Hollywood Update

Just found out my one scene in this has been cut. That's show biz.

Recorded a couple of radio ads last week for Washington Mutual. I also have a Shell Oil radio campaign running this summer. Urbaniak-style announcing is all the rage these days.

I recently auditioned to play the sick guy on an episode of "House" (a longtime dream of mine) but I didn't get it. Not sick enough, I guess. Also had an audition for AMC's "Mad Men" but looks like I didn't get that one either. Which is a shame because I look hot in early sixties suits and period eyewear. Yeah, I said it. A couple of days ago I auditioned for another big show (too early to call). At any rate, my new agents are keeping me busy. I also recently auditioned for a Wendy's commercial where I had to wear a Wendy's wig and run around with my shirt off talking gibberish. I'm happy to say I didn't get that one.

Can you build me a time machine so I can fly-on-the-wall in on that one? Or is it actually better without context?

The audition will be meticulously recreated as the opening scene in my autobiographical movie about my move to Los Angeles. Ridley Scott is in negotiations to direct.

Those Wendy's commercials are kind of scary, although not as much as the Burger King ones with the dude in the plastic King head. You're probably better off.

I read somewhere that the person playing the dancing old man in the 6 Flags commercials was female. I dunno, it seems like the goal of commercials nowadays is to be as bizarre and off-putting as possible. Although I'm one of the few gay people who actually thought the gay panic Sinckers commercial was funny, just not the alternate one on the website where they hit each other with hammers, which was vile beyond belief.

Mr. Six was none other that Danny Teeson of 'Queer Eye for the Straight Girl'.

In other name news... I'm sad, Mr. U... No love for the McFees...

WAKE UP WITH THE KING!

I don't understand why everyone is disturbed by those ads.

I mean EVERYONE is. Except me.

I leave it to others to analyze. Just looks to me like a cozy good time with beef and pork.

Actually, it isn't your life anymore. Last I heard, Liev Schreiber was in talks to play you in the role.

I heard they changed it to the life of Liev. Opening shot will be Liev being shot in the foot in costume as a transsexual in the Nora Ephron suicide hotline comedy "Mixed Nuts".

What a line-up. Bob Hope, a motorcycle cop, a guy who looks vaguely like John Cazale and a nun. I wonder what kind of joke you could get out of that group walking into a bar.

that's too bad about the House role. that would have been very cool.

I just realized the other day that I saw you on tv years ago. It took forever for me to place you. All I could remember was glasses, suit, and your blondish hair. Then it hit me, the shoe fetish fella from that episode of Sex and the City. Gotta love a memorable fetish role. <3

I hope the west coast is treating you and your family well.

Though Hollywood seems exciting from a distance, reading about it from the inside out makes me thankful to earn my living as a chemist.

Sorry to hear about your not getting the patient gig on House—would have loved to see you on the show.

Shame about House :( Good luck with future sick people roles!

I'm a big fan, and Im sure you know, Alcott is a recent convert. I would love to see what obscure, and no doubt deeply private illness they would land you with. Some strange parasite in a tract you didn't know you had! Dr V versus Dr H!! Sparks would fly!!

PS. Have you seen that there is a "who would win Dr Venture or Dr House" topic on the Venture Bros IMDB board lol!! Honest!

Too bad on the "House" gig. You and Hugh Laurie would have rocked. You two could have been the next comedy goldmine team.

And sorry about the Mad Men gig, but I hate the show so I don't feel too bad. It's below you.

Those hollywood people just don't recognize talent. Perhaps I should organize a boycott of "Mad Men," although I guess that wouldn't mean much, since I don't get cable anymore...damn.

That role in "The Nanny Diaries," IMDB said it was "educational consultant." What is it you do? Because if that role's what I think it is, I'm gonna enjoy watching that.

Ha! What brought me here was that I am listening to the radio at work and I heard this commercial and I was thinking that I had Doc "Rusty" Venture on the brain, but no! 'Tis the great James U.

Apologies about the terrible edits on that movie. I mean, you ranked number THREE of the "other cast" list, which practically makes you B-list, no?
