catch it on dvd - is that the euphenism for downloading it about an hour after it's appeared on television? As in, like most of us in Europe do? F'em if they're going to force us by giving no other option, I'm not waiting a year and a half. I'll still buy the dvd for the add-ons. But it's time adultswim got up to speed.

Viewing was awesome. I didn't pick up on the Art of Noise connection until the second time through (because the first time it just comes out of nowhere), but man, was this a great episode.

Excellent work. Thanks for posting the video, I was wondering what the hell that was referencing. Sometimes I think I'm too young for this show... but hey, that's what the internet is for.

By the way, who is responsible for all the Bowie references? They more or less rock.

ps. Cripes I love this show.

Re: Dr. Quymn, Medicine Woman

I am the only one who caught that the entry way in the Venture house we see Colonel Horace Gentleman and Ms. Quymn greeted in was supposed to invoke the one in The Brady Bunch TV show?

Thanks for the only watchable show on TV this season!

Ahh. This episode is definitely in my top five favorites. The awesome Shirt of the Week doesn't hurt either.

Also, VB has an interesting way of reminding me that I didn't like age/decade-appropriate stuff when I was little, creating the foundation for a lifetime of super-painful social awkwardness.

Part of me hates episodes like this, because they make me feel like I'm just a handful of years too young for this show.

Fortunately, I have the Vouch to help fill in those pop culture gaps.

Part of me hates episodes like this for making me realize that I am indeed old enough to get all the references...who the hell under thirty knows who the Art of Noise is?! It's depressing and cool at the same time.

Yep... some friends of mine explained the Art of Noise/Prodigy connections last night.

They also caught the Bowie/Ashes to Ashes mutant, but I don't know if they noticed the Beneath the Planet of the Apes reference. The flashback to the tubes in their heyday looked more like THX-1138, but I'm thinking there was another movie with bubble cars in underground tubes that looked even closer. Either that, or it's Moonraker.

That might have been it. I've blotted the movie and the series from my mind, mostly. Except for ROM, the robot man in the series. Back then, you could sell me any TV show with robots or space or the future in it, practically.

Broadcast on Cartoon Network this evening at 11:30. Viewing is mandatory.

I don't think you even need to command viewers to watch anymore--all you'd really have to do was dangle the episode in front of most of humanity, and we'd be chomping at the bit like Pavlovian dogs just to sample a teensy piece.

I certainly intended to follow the mandatory viewing policy, as I have been for all of the season--oh and what a season it has been (ha, I'm sure you've heard that the umpteenth time over so sorry for being repetitive)! Then again, you folks always deliver unrelentingly brilliant, layered, and witty episodes with some of the absolute best design work, music, dialogue and character personality out there. Not an easy task to be sure, but one the entire staff of The Venture Brothers has demonstrated in a commitment to excellence. :)

Unfortunately, my usual trusty DVR chose this night of all nights to betray me while I was busy preparing for my parents' wedding anniversary. I've never been happier that Adult Swim now chooses to post the premiered episodes on their online fix, so that I won't miss out waiting for when the network does a repeat run of that particular episode.

Finally, since I didn't see anyone else mention it here, I just have to thank all those involved for all the amazing Brock x Venture sex jokes flying around in the current episodes. The Buddy System and What Goes Down Must Come Up were definitely favorites in that arena, especially Buddy System's "Yeah, I bet that foreign guy could totally trounce your dad’s lover," and the entire dialogue leading into the emergence of the phallic drilling machines. I'm only now realizing how incredibly phallic the majority of adventuring drills are...Maybe it's the BL lover in me, but seriously, it's one of my favorite aspects of the show. Perfect blend of humor and tantalizing "what if?" there. At any rate, thanks for delivering the edgy stuff undelivered by the rest of today's programming.
